On Friday, Edgbaston College Year 12 students had the exciting opportunity to attend the UK University and Careers Fair, organised by UK University Search. The trip proved to be a huge success, providing students with valuable insights into their future academic and career options.
The fair brought together representatives from a wide range of UK universities, degree apprenticeship providers, and career specialists. Our Year 12 students had the chance to engage in one-on-one conversations with admissions staff and subject specialists, helping them to better understand various university courses, campus life, and the application process.
For students considering alternatives to traditional university education, the event also highlighted degree apprenticeships—a fantastic option for those who want to combine hands-on work experience with academic study. Many of our students were surprised to learn about the diverse range of degree apprenticeship programs available, which cater to interests from business and finance to engineering and digital technology.
Attending the fair was an eye-opening experience for many of our students. “It was really helpful to get direct advice from university representatives,” said one student. “I now have a clearer idea of what I want to study and which universities offer the best courses for me.”
The fair also offered seminars and workshops, providing guidance on topics such as personal statement writing, student finance, and interview techniques, giving students further support in making informed decisions about their future.
The trip aligns with Edgbaston College's commitment to ensuring our students are fully informed and prepared for the next steps in their academic journeys. The event was undoubtedly a key milestone for Year 12 as they begin to think seriously about their post-16 education and career pathways.
We look forward to seeing the positive impact this experience will have on their future plans and decisions!
